Medical Star

I’m one of the many Haitian American members of ITS. I came to the U.S. at a young age. Transitioning from Haiti or the little island formally known as “the Pearl of the Antilles” proved to be beneficial in many respects since I joined other close members of my family and continued my education. I’m the fourth of six siblings to become a nurse. My love for nursing began at an early age through play-acting as I was awarded syringes and dressing materials by my aunt who was my role model and also a nurse.

My career began when I was awarded a full scholarship from Health/Hospital Corporation to earn an A.A.S in Nursing. One scholarship led to another, affording me a BSN and a Master’s in Nursing. Most recently, I’ve enrolled in a doctoral program. To date, I’ve been a Registered Nurse for 20 years and I’m proud to say that the passion to save lives while enjoying flexible work hours and financial stability is constant. I’ve enjoyed almost the full spectrum that nursing offers including but not limited to Unit Nurse, Critical Care Nurse, School Nurse, Legal Nurse Consultant, Visiting Nurse, and Adjunct Clinical Professor. Currently, I’m a Lead Administrative Nursing Supervisor at a large acute care facility and was recently recognized as “Most Knowledgeable Supervisor” by the Joint Commission following a survey. My responsibilities include staffing; resolving patient, staff, and environmental issues; and responding to medical, psychiatric, and emergency situations. Additionally, I’m an active Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor in the community and in the hospital setting.

I am married to a wonderful man who compliments me in every way especially the fact that I was raised on two basic familial pillars: Christianity and Education. Those values are nonnegotiable for me and my husband and I strive to instill them in our three children.

Being a part of Investments Through Sisterhood is an extension of my desire to learn, share, and certainly improve on what I have already accomplished.
